Registering your pet to a microchip database

To make sure that you will get reunited with your pet one database registry is NOT enough.

I just found out that there are 21 pet microchip databases in the US. I had no idea and since I didn’t know this before and assumed that it was perfectly sufficient to register our dog with the microchip company that we were recommended to use by our vet.

The only reason that I looked into this matter at all was that we plan to travel across the country and around the world and to bring our tiny dog with us. I have a lot of research to do to make our chihuahua travel-safe: vaccines, travel documents, pet carriers, training her to be comfortable in er carrier for long stretches of time and most importantly: ensuring that we can be reunited with our fur family in case we get accidentally separated.

And just like that I noticed that the company our dog was registered with (https://www.found.org) recently was taken over by 24Petwatch Found Animals whose URL is : https://www.mypethealth.com/
